Joint Social with Aylesbury Vale in Aylesbury Saturday 9th Nov
Afternoon everyone,
There's a joint social planned with Aylesbury Vale & Oxford Camra in Aylesbury on Saturday 9th November.
12 noon, Hop Pole; 1.45pm Rockwood; 2.30pm King’s Head; then optionally 3.15pm Bell; 4pm Aristocrat, 4.45pm Bricklayers; 5.30pm White Hart
Mike from Aylesbury Vale has suggested the following as I'm no expert on Aylesbury! Hop Pole is definitely worth visiting from a beer perspective. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the Rockwood, although there’s a hill on the way. It’s probably about 5 minutes downhill from the notorious roundabouts. There are fairly regular buses to and from the town centre that stop there. It’s about a 10 minute walk the opposite direction to the Aristocrat and Bricklayers. The Aristocrat is a better beer option than the Bell in the Market Square. The White Hart is generally very good for a Wetherspoon. You could easily have a great afternoon in just the Hop Pole and King’s Head.
As for travel, there's a choice of 3 buses, the X6 Arriva leaves The Point Stop H3 at 10.30 and CMK station Stop Z5 at 10.38, getting to White Hill for 12. There's also the X4 Arriva leaving the station at 10.39, arriving in Aylesbury at around 12, this goes through at Buckingham. There is the 100 Red Rose leaving The Point at 11.00, getting there at 11.50.
The last 100 home is at 17.00 from Exchange Street Stop E2 near White Hart, with the last X4 being at 20.17 so there should be no worries there.
Cheers, Dave.
