CAMRA has found that pubs closed for 12 months or more often don't reopen, so we are making awards to pubs that reopen after they've been closed for that long. The Bell & Bear was closed for several years, but the locals in Emberton didn't want to lose their only pub, so a community group banded together and bought the pub. They then had to repair and refurbish it before they could reopen it. Since then they have steadily built up their trade and steadily made improvements.

A pub that has genuinely "risen from the ashes".
