About the Good Beer Guide
About The Guide
When it is published in September, refreshed and updated for its 54th edition, the next edition will be fully revised and feature recommended pubs from Milton Keynes, North Bucks and across the United Kingdom that serve the best real ale, as well as a comprehensive breweries listing.
As always, our nominees were curated from the establishments whose beers scored highest on CAMRA members' beer scoring portal on the CAMRA website, which allows all members to score the quality of every real ale they drink and might ensure their local is included in the Good Beer Guide in the future.
Congratulations once again to all of our 2026 entries – here’s to the 2027 version being another fantastic edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide!

The 2027 edition, foreworded this year by Sir Ian Rankin, famous author and beer lover. His many books featuring Rebus, often see his best known detective settle into his favourite pub for a quiet pint.

CAMRA Beer ScoringSelection Process
CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide lists those pubs which consistently serve the best real ale. All pubs across our Milton Keynes and North Bucks area which serve real ale are eligible to be included. In making our final selection for pubs in GBG (up to the number we are allocated - currently 15) we only use the evidence of beer quality in our pubs provided by CAMRA members over the last 12 months using CAMRA’s National Beer Scoring System – which they mostly submit through the CAMRA website.
We do not do any further surveying of beer quality because:
- This eliminates any local bias and the decision does not simply use scores awarded by a few people in a one-off survey.
- Our GBG pubs must have consistent quality over the whole year, not just on the surveyors’ visit.
- To further ensure that pubs are chosen in a fair way a minimum of 15 scores by at least 5 different members must have been completed that year.
